Shri Shrimad Krishna Das Babaji

Shri Krishnadas Babaji Maharaja, a maha-bhagavata of the Narottama Parivara, one of the unbroken traditional Gaudiya-vaishnava spiritual disciplic lineages of initiating and instructing Gurus in manjari-bhava- raganuga-bhakti-yoga, passing through Shrila Narottama Dasa Thakur Mahashaya.

108 Shri Krishna Dasa Babaji Maharaja was also known as ‘Madrasi Baba’, though a native of Kerala. After his spiritual initiation by 108 Shri Sakhicharan Dasa Babaji Maharaja, Baba took up residence in 1962 at the sacred village of Radhakund (Uttar Pradesh) where in 1998, he passed away in a small rented room in the Shri RadhaRaman temple. During this entire period he dedicated his time to worship Shri Shri Radha-Krishna in the way (just as well exoteric than esoteric) of manjari-bhava-raganuga-bhakti-yoga, as shown by Lord Shriman Gauranga Mahaprabhu, the mediaeval ‘avatara’ (divine descent) of Shri Krishna, the original personality of Godhead.

Opium

Srila Prabhupada used to tell a funny story about an opium smoker. The sun was setting and this addict felt the need to satisfy his addiction, but he was on one side of the river, while the village where there was fire to light his pipe was on the other.

Our situation is something like this. We want to be united with Krishna, the Lord of Goloka, but we are separated by a raging river of disqualifications. We have to bear all this in mind.

We can

1. dive into Radha-kunda as often as we like, 
2. drink the water, 
3. submerge ourselves in it, 

but that does not mean that we have really bathed in Radha-kunda.

What we really have to do is plunge into the waters of Radharani’s mood of spontaneous devotion, and to do that we must first develop enthusiasm for Krishna’s Name. Without such enthusiasm, nothing further will be gained.

Tax

SANKIRI KOL:- This is exactly in the middle of BArsana and Nandgaon.  It was  Krishna’s practice to stop the gopis at this place and collect tax.  On one such occasion, when Radharani was stopped, she got angry and broke the pot containing curd.  It is believed that those pieces are still here.  It is difficult to approach this place because of bushes and thorns.  (Similar incident is related to Dhan Gati near Goverdhana)

DAN GHATI- This temple is on the road where Lakshmi Narayan temple is located.  “Dan” means the place where taxes are collected.   Krishna and HIS friends used to stop the gopis who pass by this place for selling their diary products and collect taxes for development of Goverdhan.  The gopis were forced to part with butter, milk, curd as tax.  There is Dani Raya temple constructed by Vajranabha as a remembrance of this pastime on top of Goverdhana Hill. Presently there is no worship in this temple. There is another place near Barsana with the same name where Krishna bestowed a Brahmin with gold equal to Radha’s weight for performing his daughter’s marriage. The balance used by Krishna for weighing is kept in that place.

DAN NIVARTAN KUNDA :-This is on the right side of the parikrama path being the place  where the gopis punished  Krishna for collecting tax.
